Exercise 4: Resisted Step Ups with an Explosive Knee Drive

12 Reps X 3 Sets

Benefits of the Resisted Step Up and Knee Drive

  • The step up and knee drive is an excellent exercise as it strengthens all the major sprinting muscles.
  • The step up will increase the strength and power of the glutes and hamstrings while the resisted knee drive will activate the quads and hip flexors.
  • The Speed Bands target the hip-flexors which are major sprinting muscles that must be conditioned to contract explosively.
  • This will lead to a powerful knee drive. The Hip Flexors are often neglected by athletes in the gym as there are not many machines to train this muscle.
